I have always loved to read aloud.

As a teacher, I have used this for many different age ranges and they all love it! I often read my own writing aloud to check for flow and mistakes, and when I was in school I would read textbooks aloud to help me remember.

When I have memorized scripture, reading it aloud and writing it out are tools I use to get the passage to stay in my mind.
